We Care Plumbing, Heating, & Air offers an energy savings membership designed to help you save money on yearly maintenance and repairs to your plumbing and HVAC equipment. If you’re not a member, here are some helpful tips to help you help your units live longer.

  • Remove any debris stuck to the side of your air conditioner or heat pump. Outdoor HVAC units tend to accumulate pollen, leaves, sticks, grass clippings, and other debris on the outside of their grill. Clean off this debris to ensure circulation is good and that outdoor debris does not get stuck in your system.
  • Clear space around your outdoor HVAC unit. Clearing two feet of space around your air conditioner or heat pump will significantly cut down on debris getting blown into the system. It will also discourage plants such as vines and moss from growing on the outdoor shell.
  • Replace your air filters every month. Don’t go more than 2 months without replacing your air filters. Clean air filters cut down on allergens in your indoor air, keep system circulation at peak performance, and prevent dust from accumulating in your air ducts. Air filters also keep dust and debris out of your heating or cooling system; if dust gets in the inner works of your furnace or air conditioner, it can severely harm the gears and moving parts inside and cause your system to fail. Not only is changing your air filters good for your health, but it can also save you costly repairs and replacements in the future.
  • Check that your outdoor A/C unit or heat pump is on level ground. The ground underneath your outdoor HVAC unit may adjust with weather and temperature change. Occasionally checking that your outdoor units are still on the flat and level ground could prevent costly damages. If you are unsure that the ground around your HVAC units is level, feel free to schedule a simple evaluation with We Care Plumbing, Heating, & Air. We are happy to make sure your home’s comfort is guaranteed.

Simple steps can be taken to save you money and time when it comes to maintaining your HVAC equipment. At We Care Plumbing, Heating, & Air, our customers come first! With any questions or if you’d like to schedule an appointment, feel free to call us.
