The Importance of HVAC Filters

Furnaces, air conditioning, and heat pumps all use filters. Being informed on HVAC filters can help you improve your health and lengthen the life of your HVAC units.

You know that you need to change your HVAC filters every month, but do you know why? While filters do help remove pollutants and extraneous debris from your air, the true purpose of a filter is to protect your HVAC unit from internal dust accumulation. If your furnace, air conditioner, or heat pump builds up dust internally, the unit can overheat, causing excess energy usage and inefficiency.

So: don’t forget to change your filters every 30 days! A dirty filter can cause overheating, poor circulation, poor air distribution, or your air conditioner condensing coils to freeze. It can also cause minor health issues, such as sneezing, due to the elevated debris in your home’s air from not changing the filter. If you have trouble remembering to change your filters, make a calendar appointment!

Don’t forget to call We Care at (888) 353-4666 with any questions you may have about HVAC filtration, or if you would like to schedule a maintenance check on your HVAC units!
