Keeping the Benefits of Central Air and Heating

We all love our central air and heating services in our homes. They keep us warm during the cold winter nights and cool during the hot summer days. But how do we go about keeping our central heating and air conditioning systems up and running short of having a professional come out once or twice a year and do it for us? Well, today we’re going to go over a few ways.

When it comes to our heating systems, heating maintenance services are really the best way to go. These, however, are really only able to be performed by a licensed and experienced professional. For example, a Corona heating specialist can come out to your home in the early fall and diagnose your entire heating system to see if there are any components that need to be replaced or cleaned. These people know what they’re looking for and how to go about fixing and/or replacing them, so it’s best to leave that part to them. There are, however, ways you can help keep your central heating system running smoothly.

Air filters should be changed, or at the very least, cleaned about once a month while the heater is in use. Yes, your central heating system has air filters just like your car, and just like your car, they need to be cleaned every so often when they get clogged. A dirty or clogged air filter doesn’t really do its job, and in fact, can wind up bringing down the overall efficiency of the entire system.

Another great piece of advice is to close off the air vents to any rooms that you aren’t using during the colder parts of the year. Just by doing this little bit you can see a large reduction on monthly utility bills without having to give up the conveniences that come with running our heaters.

Central air and heating are two different systems that operate and run hand-in-hand. When we’re not using one, we often find ourselves using the other, so it goes to follow that keeping your central air conditioning system up and running can be quite similar to keeping your central heating system.

Central air conditioning systems are nearly always found with an outside unit, one that’s used to grab and channel the air from outside to the conditioning center so it can be cooled and then funneled into the home. To keep things running smoothly, it’s important to prevent the outside unit free from clutter or anything that may hinder airflow. In fact, it’s usually a good idea to keep about three feet of clearance around all sides of the outside unit, including the top. Doing so will help keep everything running smoothly while you’re waiting for the professional to come out and take care of their end.

There are a few things we can do on our own to help keep our central heating and air conditioning up and running while we wait for the annual professional tune-up. We all like to be comfortable in our own homes, especially during the hot and cold parts of the year. The one thing we don’t like is having to pay the increased utility bills.
